Credibility in safety certification depends on the rigor of the standards behind it. ISSB designs its programs with reference to the following frameworks and regulatory benchmarks:

• OSHA Regulatory Framework (29 CFR 1910 / 29 CFR 1926): Our general industry and construction safety curricula are mapped to the hazard categories and compliance topics defined in OSHA's general industry and construction standards, ensuring learners are trained on the issues that matter most for real-world compliance.
• ANSI/ASSP Z490.1 – Criteria for Accepted Practices in Safety, Health, and Environmental Training: We reference this consensus standard, developed by the American Society of Safety Professionals and accredited by the American National Standards Institute, as a benchmark for structuring instructional design, trainer qualifications, and course evaluation.
• ISO/IEC 17024 Principles for Personnel Certification: Our certification programs are structured in line with the general principles set out in ISO/IEC 17024 — the international standard governing bodies that certify individuals — including defined competency requirements, standardized assessment, and controlled recertification pathways.
• International Labour Organization (ILO) Occupational Safety and Health Conventions: Where our training reaches a global audience, we draw on ILO guidance on occupational safety management systems to ensure our content remains relevant across different regulatory environments, not just a single country's rules.

Our Approach to Quality

Every ISSB course and certification pathway is developed through a structured process:

1. Curriculum Design — Course content is built around recognized hazard categories and regulatory topics, reviewed for accuracy and relevance to current industry practice.
2. Trainer Qualification — Training Providers and instructors delivering ISSB-branded courses are vetted for relevant safety credentials and instructional experience before authorization.
3. Standardized Assessment — Learners are evaluated through consistent, scenario-based assessments designed to test applied understanding, not just memorization.
4. Certificate Issuance & Verification — Certificates are issued centrally by ISSB and can be verified online, giving employers a fast, reliable way to confirm a credential's authenticity.
5. Continuous Review — Course materials and assessment criteria are periodically reviewed and updated to reflect regulatory changes and emerging workplace hazards.
